MOUSSA

video, 1 h 20 min
Moussa spent six years of his childhood making little girls’ dresses (1969-1975), as a part of the family business. In 1975, the store that used to buy the family production was closed. Since then, the family stopped sewing dresses. More than forty years passed after Moussa stopped this activity.
In September 2017, I asked him to face the machine one more time and to make a dress without any training or rehearsal. Moussa is facing the camera, a knitting machine, a blue thread, and oblivion. His body and mind are trying to recall a gesture that was a part of his everyday life more than 40 years ago and that was suddenly interrupted.
