2018, Tray with different brands of cigarettes, variable dimensions
The cigarette tray was a traditional object that used to be present in all Lebanese houses, it holds several brands of cigarettes. This trend of sharing a cigarette with the guests vanished twenty years ago, when the individuals started holding with them at all times their own packet of cigarettes.
The tray full of cigarettes is to be presented in the exhibition space as an object reminding the sharing moments that were lost with the emergence of individuality, and inviting to a silly transgression of the rule that forbids smoking inside closed public spaces, and a reference to the silly transgression I dared when I tried all those cigarettes at nine years old. In the exhibition context, spectators are invited to take a cigarette.
